Hi all,
I have an export view of a DOOR module that I am exporting to WORD. This export view contains a layout DXL for one of the columns to display certain aspects of the object text. The problem I am having is that I cannot get a DOORS table to display in this column using a layout DXL.
Is anyone able to help?

DOORS tables do not display columns. v9 of DOORS lets you assign attributes for each table to display. You can convert your layout code to some attr DXL code, then instruct your table to display THAT attribute, then export.
Since perhaps you want your table cells to display MORE than that one column, perhaps you need to write a special Attr-DXL that display the Object text as well as the contents of that column. Take the layout code and convert it manually. don't display this new AttrDXL, just assign it to the table.
So perhaps you end up with a column labeled "X Info" and an attr DXL named "dxlForTable X Info and Text".

Displaying Table Attributes also works in DOORS 8. However it seems you are looking for a feature on your exporter. WEXP for example features inline views, which will allow you to export a specific view in your module (e.g. the special view on your table).
Which exporter are you using?

cheers for the ideas guys.
I was using the supplied word export. I have also played around a little with WEXP.

Sorry, I am not able to help.
I have as well a question quite similar.
I have got a module in which the object text contains tags. Inside this module, a view contains a layout to hide the tags. I am using the Inline function to make the OLE been embedded when using WEXP. The problem is that this function doesn't work with the layout.
DOes someone have any idea to embed the OLE objects in that way?
Thanks in advance.

If you don't want to adapt WEXP your only option would be to create a temporary module, where you write the contents of the layout into the text and export this module. I made a modification to WEXP, to let the inlining be applied to all attributes (not DXL layout columns), and it was not straight forward. So doing this with DXL layouts is probably even more complicated. Would a temporary module a solution for you? (Or do you want to play hardball :-) )

Hi Mathias
Thanks for your quick answer.
Could you please explain me how did you adapt WEXP?
How do you want me to write the contents of the layout into the text? How about the OLE objects? In that case, I will have to handle two modules instead of one!
If it is difficult to manage inlining with DXL layouts, it is possible to change the column in DXL attribute, isn't it?

Find attached the original wexp.inc and the ones with my changes in it. Now that I see the code, it does not seem too complicated to me now :-) Maybe I remember this to be harder, because it might have been the first change I have been doing to WEXP at all. Nevertheless, doing this for DXL layout might be harder, because a lot of existing WEXP functions deal with attribute values and not with the RTF.
With the temporary module I meant, make a complete duplicate of the module you are about to export (including the export view), write the contents of your DXL layout to your main column (or whereever you want them to go) and then do the export from the temporary module.
